Bought my plane tickets from England over to...
We decided on flying from Gatwick to Dublin, and same on the way back.  Tickets were $186 USD, which was way more than I was anticipating, but it had to be done.  ENHBEGDKBCNJKREHISUVBCFNKJNV  I wish I had Irish friends I could stay with over there to save some money.  A field is always an option I suppose.

JUST BOUGHT MY BACKPACKING ADVENTURE JACKET FROM...
It’s the REI Women’s Centre Peak Jacket.  Waterproof.  Stormflap and detachable hood.  Giant hand pockets lined with the softest material ever.  Adjustable hand cuffs.  Weird but handy arm zip pockets.  Active fit — meaning it’s super stretchy and won’t be bulky while trekking.  Drawchord hem to retain heat.  Looks like some strange SCUBA material.   It’s basically awesome.  Originally $200 but...

Trip Update: Throwing All to the Wind
Recently, I have become a victim of the amazing novel Into the Wild and The Good Girls Guide to Getting Lost.  This has caused some serious unsatisfied desire to just pick up and leave everything behind to adventure, (more so than usual).   Due to this, Kaitlin & I decided to throw all our plans to the wind and just do stuff as it comes to us.  We will make a few plans, such as housing in...

Outer Dublin: Wicklow
Wicklow Mountains National Park So I’m thinking we’ll take a bus down to Wicklow and do a morning day hike through the beautiful mountains here.  We’ll trek back to Dublin and proceed to catch a five hour bus ride down to Cork, unless we can catch one out of Wicklow.  It should be a scenic ride through SE Ireland.

Kaitlin: Important Post Regarding Accommodation in...
Okay.  I have narrowed down the top three best hostels we can stay in while in Dublin.  Each has something a little different about it, so I wanted to post about them and the pros/cons of each.  I can honestly say I’m not leaning towards one of the other at this point. Contender 1: Four Courts Hostel This one is about $17 bucks a night per person.  It has been voted the best hostel in...

APRIL 23RD I AM GOING TO LEAVESDEN STUDIOS FOR THE...
I am going to the iconic studios where the films I grew up with as a child based on the books I’ve come to regard as my favourite.  I will be walking where Dan, Emma, Rup, Alan, Richard, Tom, Jason, and everyone walked and filmed.   I cannot believe how perfect the timing is.  The tour opens on April 1st I believe, and I fly in three days later.  And I just was able to schedule the tour the...

I OFFICIALLY HAVE PLANE TICKETS.
Here is the plan.  I’ll be flying into Heathrow on April 3rd to adventure in England for a few days and meet up with the best friend.  I’ll meet my family members over there and then after I’m done, I’ll take the ferry over to Ireland. I have until April 24th to explore the UK and all it’s glory.  I’ll be leaving from Gatwick Airport.  This is set in stone. ...

We are discussing a way to make the trip work in April instead of May so she can go straight from London over to Dublin. Of course, once I arrive I plan to explore England for a couple days, visit family, explore the homeland.  But then the true backpacking adventure will begin with a ferry ride over.  =]  Plans still formulating.  If you live in either country and want to show us around a bit,...

Update: Two Irish travelers is now down to one...
My dear friend Kaitlin has the opportunity to go study abroad in England for a couple of months that will take all her money, and then some.  Of course, she accepted it.  It is going to be an awesome adventure for her. But that does leave me to my own devices for this journey.  It may be better this way.  Traveling by yourself is incredible.  I still am going to go.  It will still be beautiful...

Has anyone heard of couch surfing before, and more...
I have been checking into it pretty seriously for my Ireland adventure, but am still a little iffy on the safety of the whole thing.   And aside from that, just how it works.  I mean, you just show up to the people’s house who want to keep you up and sleep, then get up and leave?  haha Ahh I don’t know.  It is just weird to me.  But it is like, free.  And free = good.

3 Reasons to Travel While You’re Young
janinasantos: The other night, I had a conversation with a young woman who had a number of decisions ahead of her, one of which was whether she should go to grad school or travel the world. I told her to travel. Hands down. No excuse. Just go. Read More

Well hello everyone.
Today I became a member of the REI Membership program. https://www.rei.com/membership/benefits  Link above.  You get a bunch of really cool benefits and discounts, including a dividend once a year returning 10% of what you spent all year at REI.  Which is pretty awesome.  AND you only pay for the lifetime membership once for $20, which is also pretty awesome. I learned about the backpack...

To Kaitlin: #3 Part 2
I have finally found motivation to finish this long list of counties for our trip.  We begin in the West, where the Elves live. Clare.  Okay, so Co Clare is where the Cliffs of Moher reside, one of the places I’m most stoked for.  IT IS GORGEOUS.  At one end of the Cliffs is a place called Hags Head that we should venture out to.  Also, fun fact, they are being considered for the new 7...

To Kaitlin: #3 Part 1
Hello my dear.  Okay, bear with me on this one.  It’s going to be long.  But since I know you are a bit behind on the research I figure this will be a good all inclusive post to familiarize yourself with how Ireland is set up. So I have a bunch of papers each with a county on it that we will be going to for some adventure. These are in order of how we will be adventuring as well, with the...
